Here’s Why Substack Is My Jam
I finally found my home online...
…And it’s a comfortable home. A place where I can be myself instead of trying or thinking about being someone else.
I’ve never been against social media, but…
Facebook: I still use it to stay in touch with my family throughout the world and to remind myself of friends’ birthdays.
Twitter: I just couldn’t get it/or into/too many damn angry people there. I like positive vibes and people.
Instagram: Fun but a mind suck and I just can’t naturally be that silly in my posts. Some posts yes but I feel things are just too silly there now.
Tik Tok: Nope.
LinkedIn: Still use it and I think it is very useful business-wise and for (some) networking. But there is something about it…a stuffiness perhaps. An online trophy room maybe? It’s a feeling like you are being judged on every post, with the question being, “Is This Business or Too Personal/Fun?”
Which brings me to Substack and some main reasons why I love it:
The Substack Community Rocks: So many impressive writers and thinkers and they all want to help others build their communities and otherwise. I can actually feel the love, electronically of course.
The Ease of Substack (Now): I have been on the platform for a few years, mostly for a podcast and another pen name account, but it wasn’t easy to navigate. My timing worked out because when I was ready to take the plunge and start writing my transportation-entertainment newsletter, The Commute, I believe the app and site is much easier to navigate. Thank you Substack!
Substack Over LinkedIn: I think of Substack as the “Business of Linkedin” BUT “Where you Can Have Fun Too”. I like mixing my thoughts into the articles that I have read. Posting videos. Maybe I’ll do some audio too. It’s a blast here. I love it.
I just had to get this love of Substack out there. I hope to be here forever.
